How Car Shipping Works

After placing your vehicle transport order, an ACERTUS representative will work with you to schedule pickup and delivery. At pickup, you will meet a driver who will drive your car onto a car hauler and transport your vehicle to the delivery location. At pickup, your vehicle condition will be noted, in detail, on a document called the Bill of Lading. This same document will be presented at the time of delivery. Any damages must be noted and signed for at this time. Any damage claims not reported to ACERTUS within 48 hours of delivery will not be covered by insurance.

We cannot guarantee the pickup date when shipping a car, but our drivers typically pick up the vehicle within 1-5 business days. Once a driver is assigned, we will have a better idea of the pickup time frame. The driver will call the phone number you provided ahead of pickup to set a specific meeting time.

Yes, the driver will call the phone number you provided ahead of pickup to set a specific meeting time.

Car haulers typically travel 400-500 miles per day. Because of circumstances beyond our control, such as weather, traffic, and construction, we can only provide estimates for pickup and delivery times when shipping a car.

No, the dates we provide are estimates due to potential circumstances out of our control. Weather, traffic, construction, and truck breakdowns are all factors that could cause a delay in pickup and delivery of your vehicle. Once a driver is assigned to your shipment, we will be able to provide a better delivery time frame. The driver will call the phone number you provide to set a specific time to meet for delivery.

You, or someone (18 years or older) that you’ve chosen to represent you, must be present to inspect the vehicle upon pickup and delivery. A document called the Bill of Lading will need to be reviewed and signed by you, or your representative, and the driver to ensure the condition of the vehicle is noted in detail before and after transport.

Yes, ACERTUS can accommodate date changes. If your pickup date changes more than 60 days, the shipping price may change depending on current market conditions. Please contact an ACERTUS representative as soon as possible if your plans change to make sure we can meet your new dates.

Yes, ACERTUS can accommodate pickup and delivery location changes. The shipping price may change depending on the new zip codes. Please contact an ACERTUS representative as soon as possible if your plans change to make sure we can accommodate your new location.

ACERTUS will work with you to arrange for a family member or neighbor meet the driver to provide the keys and inspect the vehicle upon pickup.

Your vehicle will be moved by a full-size car hauler with other vehicles. Car haulers vary in size and can have a lower and upper level and transport more than six vehicles.

Car Preparation

Your vehicle should be empty and free of any personal items before transport.

We do not recommend shipping your car with personal belongings inside of it. Personal items inside of the vehicle may entice someone to break in, which would not be covered by our insurance. There cannot be any personal items in the vehicle that add weight to the shipment.

Home Location

The ACERTUS representative will work with you to find a nearby location, such as a large parking lot, that can be accessed by our drivers for pickup and delivery.

In some circumstances, yes, we will deliver a car to your home. Please keep in mind that your vehicle will be moved by a full-size car hauler with other vehicles. Because of the truck’s size, we cannot deliver to locations with low hanging trees, narrow streets, dead ends, cul-de-sacs, or any other location that could cause damage to the truck or any of the vehicles on board. We often deliver to large parking lots located near major retailers, churches, or schools.

Damages

You, or someone (18 years or older) you’ve chosen to represent you, must be present for inspection of the vehicle upon delivery. The condition of the vehicle will be noted in detail at the time of pickup within a document called the Bill of Lading. This document will then be presented at the time of delivery. In the rare case of damage during transport, you or your representative must notate it on the Bill of Lading and notify ACERTUS within 48 hours. We have an onsite claims team that can assist with any damages that may occur during shipment.

ACERTUS maintains, at its sole cost and expense, all insurance and bonding requirements as imposed by law. ACERTUS shall be fully liable for any damages to the vehicle while in their possession incurred as a result of the actions of ACERTUS employees or subcontractors.

Our drivers do their best to stay clear of any weather conditions that could potentially cause damage to your vehicle, but weather can be unpredictable. Insurance companies call weather damage “Force Majeure” or an act of God. Weather and other acts of God are not covered by our insurance. For example, if there is hail damage this will not be covered by ACERTUS. You will have to submit the damage to your own insurance company. However, our insurance covers damages caused by our drivers while they are in possession of your vehicle.

Insurance

Contingent cargo insurance provides coverage in the event that a general cargo insurance claim doesn’t apply. ACERTUS has contingent cargo coverage on every vehicle for extra protection.

Comprehensive insurance coverage helps cover the cost of damages to your vehicle when you are involved in an accident that’s not caused by a collision. This includes losses such as theft, vandalism, hail, and hitting an animal. This type of insurance is the responsibility of the vehicle owner and ACERTUS does not provide comprehensive insurance.

Payment

The full payment is made by credit or debit card when you place your order. Your vehicle will not be scheduled for transport until payment is received in full. A partial payment at time of booking and balance of payment at delivery option is not available.

Yes, any cancellation must be done two days prior to your vehicle pickup date. We will then process a full refund of the shipment price to your credit or debit card within 48 business hours. However, if you cancel within two days of your vehicle pickup date, you will be subject to a $150 cancellation fee.

Not at this time. Your PODS container fees and car shipping fees will be billed separately.

Miscellaneous

No, your vehicle will be transported separately from your PODS container. Your car will be driven onto a car hauler and transported that way.

No, your PODS container and vehicle will be on two different trucks with two different schedules. We try our best to accommodate schedules but cannot make any guarantees.
